L’SPAM turns 50 years old!
La Societat Protectora d’Animals de Mataró (animal protection society of Mataró)
SpAm was born in 1971 from a group of citizens of Mataró who associated to help abandoned, lost or abused cats and dogs.
It has rained a lot since then, and that small association has overcome the entanglements of the years, has given a new life to thousands of cats and dogs, and has colaborated actively and efficiently to build an adoption culture, to consolidate the concept of responsible pet ownership, and to actively lobby for animal rights.
Our community congratulates us!
Receiving support from people and organizations who love animals gives us strength to keep working for the care and attention of the abandoned ones. There is still a lot to be done, and these congratulations give us strength to keep fighting against injustice and abuse.
News 50 years…
That was the day of the presentation
The 23rd of September was a very emotional day: being able to present our story to the partners, volunteers, sponsors, workteams, friends and organizations with whom we share goals, was very emotional. Here are some pictures of what was a historic day for us.
A book about the history of the Animal Protection Society of Mataró.
With this book we want to record the efforts of all the people who, over the course of these 50 years, have left their skins in their attempt to give companion animals the dignity they deserve.
