The average cost regarding a cat or dog’s maintenance in the shelters is €6 daily.
If the cat or dog has, in addition, any disease or must be operated on, this cost can be much higher.
The shelter’s philosophy has always been based on giving any animal under our care the same attention as the one received by an animal with a family and, to do so, we need all the help possible. The godparent figure is very important since their monthly contribution allows us to provide maximum well-being to all our animals while they live at the shelter.
The godparent, along with caregivers and volunteers, is the most similar thing to a family that the animal has while it isn’t adopted.
Godparents donate €12 per month and help us to deal with its expenses during its stay in the shelters, especially regarding its feeding.
To walk the dog or enjoy some time with the cat you are a godparent to, you need to be (as well as a godparent) a volunteer. To be a volunteer, you only need to write to voluntariat@protectoramataro.org indicating that you are an animal’s godparent and we will show you what steps to follow. It’s very easy and you will be able to meet and spend time with your protégé!
You can also be a godparent to street cats or cats and dogs that have severe behavioural problems with a monthly contribution of €6.
Although it is difficult that godparents meet their protegé in these cases, your contribution will help us to take care of these animals and look after their wellbeing. To be the godparent to a street cat send an email to info@protectoramataro.org
If you want to help us by becoming a godparent, go HERE and download the SEPA document (SEPA implies the need to have a direct debit order that authorizes us to start charging the account number that you indicate). You have to fill it in and send it to padrins@protectoramataro.org.
